Default My New Friend Sakeena

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

I met Sakeena on our website and she just converted mashallah. She is a great sister, very sweet, and has lots of issues and struggles, but she is quite strong! may Allah make her even stronger.

I told her she could meet lots of good sisters here, get a lot of advice and questions answered (I've been helping her myself but think it's time she joined our community).

Everyone help me in welcoming her and being there for her at this difficult time (she's in high school, some of the Muslims she knows don't practice or are mean to her and some of her "friends" are just vicious; also her family is not supportive although mashallah she is respecting them). For now they don't know and I've told her to SLOWLY keep changing so it's not a shock to them.

Well, she's here and ready to make some lifelong friends who are there for her in the Deen. Also she lives in Atlanta so anyone around there help out (she would love to meet people there).

Inshallah you'll love it here Sakeena.

Default A Secret Embracement

"Assalam alaikum, my sisters in Islam.

My name is Sakeena and I converted to a Muslim on Tuesday, September 27th, 2005. I have only been Muslim for four months and I have already face threatening acts against my new faith. I have not yet to meet any Muslims as kind and as helpful as my dear sister, Fatima Hye. She has helped and supported me when I was ready to give up on Islam.
Because of this I accepted all the comments and threats from my family and some of the people I knew, who used to e my friends aren't with me anymore all for the sake of Allah.
As for prayer, I have not yet learnt all the prayer positions, but I will soon. As for hijab, I do wear it, but only if I'm safe, like at school or somewhere my family can't see me. I also readthe Qu'ran online.
No one really told me to become a Muslim, I decided this, because Allah saw that I was struggling and saved me before things got any worse. And Allah knows best. I will never regret this, for as long as I live! And I now know why my real friends are; they are friends with Allah, they are the kind of people who make a true friend. For now my Islamic faith is a secret But I hope to one day practice openly. Mashallah!

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullah,

Your New sister in Islam, Sakeena."
