Default Suggest some books.

Essalamu3laykum,

What are good books to give someone who just converted? Something that covers tawheed/aqeedah and other important pillars of Islam that won't be too confusing.

Also, what are good books about tawheed/aqeedah and the basics to give someone who is a bit more advanced but still needs something simple enough to understand. I know sharh kitab at tawheed by ibn abdul wahhab is good for a more advanced person, and "The book of Emaan" based on Ibn Taymiyyah's work is very simple and clear. Any other suggestions?

JazaakumAllah khayr.

salam

well this particular book (Towards Understanding Islam) .. was actually used by three of my friends and they had scores of shahadah .. they simply used the arguments presented in it and would parrot them to confused folks who would embrace Islam ... just look at the way he gives proofs for the Prophet SWS .. i do not know if u many of you agree but if u can get a new Muslim 'activated' in the sense that he gets into this 'dawah' mode for his own sake .. it really helps .. generally, we muslims think of giving dawah because 'it brings more people to islam' .. we forget that doing so is an obligation on us as well and we have to do that for our sake ..

Oh yeah! add dar us salam 'Brief Intro to Islam' as well .. pretty nice .. and Ali Tantawi (not the Egyptian one) wrote a good book on Islam .. I remember a very nice point it that he actually used to refute Evolution ...

He goes ... that imagine you are walking in a desert .. you see a fabulous palace with all these diamonds and golden walls etc ... now if you are a reasonable person, you'll say that someone rich came and had it built .. but if you are a believe in the theory of evolution, you'll tell us that wind carried some clay .. that got deposited .. with time it shaped first into bricks and they then rearranged themselves into this palace .. then wind brough some gold water and with time it kept depositing on the walls till they were golden .. with time some gems started getting deposited on the walls .. or maybe the 'evolved' on the walls .. till you had a palace.. lolz .. something like that ... now I believe that Naseehah Man should become a darwinist

Default 50 Questions and Answers on Islamic Monotheism

I love this one

I think it is the best book for a new muslim to have. It has pretty much the basic Aqidah all summed up in it.

All are the books inside this one book:

1. Kitab At-Tauhid by Shaikhul-Islam Muhammad bin 'Abdul-Wahhab

2.Religious Fundamentals by Shaikhul-Islam Muhammad bin 'Abdul-Wahhab

3.The Virtue of Tauhid and a Warning Against What Contradicts it, Darussalam

4.The Authentic Creed and Invalidators of Islam, by Shaikh Bin Baz

5.Islamic Creed, by Shaikh Muhammad bin Jamil Zino

6.50 Questions and Answers on Islamic Monotheism,Darussalam

Daarus-Salaam have a good set of books (see here) specifically aimed at new Muslims, covering a variety of subjects. I would recommend them inshaa'allaah.

Islamic Studies 1, 2 and 3 by the above-mentioned Abu Ameenah Bilal Philips are lucid, simple and somewhat broader than only aqeedah. They really give you the basics. (Do a search on islamicbookstore.com for more information.)

Salam alaikum. I would like to mention "Usuluth thalathah", (The three fundamental principles) of Sheik ul-Islam Muhammad Ibn Abd el-Wahab and also its explanation from Ibn Uthaymeen.
